Bathroom vanities · Updated November 4, 2026

A bathroom vanity is a measuring job before it is a style choice.

Width is the number on the box, but depth, the door swing and where the drain leaves the wall or floor decide whether a vanity drops in or turns into a plumbing job. After fit comes the cabinet itself: solid wood and plywood boxes hold up to bathroom humidity far better than MDF or particleboard, and not every listing includes the top and sink. We compare vanities on fit, construction and what actually ships in the box, using spec sheets, current Amazon prices and what verified owners report.

Our method

How we research

What we compare

  • Fit: width, depth (about 21 inches on most stock units), height, and the clear floor left in front once the door swings.
  • Plumbing: where the drain and supply lines leave the wall or floor, and whether the cabinet back and drawers clear them.
  • The box: solid wood or plywood versus MDF or particleboard, and whether the top, sink and faucet holes come with it.
  • Price: Amazon's current price, checked every night.
  • What verified owners report after months of daily use.

What we don't do

We don't run a lab, and we don't claim to have installed or handled these products ourselves. Our picks come from published specifications, current Amazon prices and what verified owners report again and again.

Every Amazon link on this site is an affiliate link. It never decides the ranking.

Common questions

What size vanity do I need?

Measure the wall, then subtract for the door swing, any trim and the clearance beside the toilet. Common single-sink widths are 24, 30, 36 and 48 inches, and a double sink needs at least 60 inches to be usable by two people at once. Our vanity sizing guide covers depth, height and front clearance too.

Is MDF good enough for a bathroom vanity?

Sealed, bathroom-grade MDF copes with normal shower steam; what ruins it is standing water from a slow leak under the sink. Solid wood and plywood boxes handle moisture better and can be refinished, which is a large part of why they cost more. Particleboard is the material to avoid in a humid bathroom. Our wood vs MDF comparison goes through the trade-offs.

Does a vanity come with a countertop and sink?

Not always. Some listings are complete sets with the top, sink and sometimes the faucet, while others ship as the cabinet only. Read what is included before comparing prices, and check that the top's faucet holes (single-hole, 4-inch centerset or 8-inch widespread) match the faucet you want. We explain the difference in vanity with vs without a top.
